Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
After a friend's husband was diagnosed with Myeloma we wanted to do something to help. Peter McCleave is 40 years old, husband and father to two boys, Max 8 and Seb 5, an Ironman finisher, rugby coach and tri-athlete.
After being diagnosed with an incurable blood cancer he's been given 7 years to live unless he finds a stem-cell match.
We want to persuade as many people to sign up to be stem-cell donors. Only 2% of the population are currently signed up and it's a two-minute task - request a pack, take a swab from the inside of your cheek and post it back.
If you were lucky enough to be a match, it's a similar procedure to giving blood, completed as an outpatient. (90% of donors donate this way)
To register visit DKMS or www.10000donors.com
To raise funds for DKMS, a group of us are completing a three-hour aerobithon, lead by personal trainer and fitness guru Mary Richardson and yoga teacher Sally. Three hours of non-stop, intense exercise followed by some gentle stretches!
A smaller group are then entering the Full Tough Mudder in September - 26 obstacles across a wet, muddy, 10-mile course!
Please help us to raise as much money for DKMS and encourage as many people as possible to join the register for stem-cell donors.
