Story
So I signed up for the GNR last year to support MYHC - mainly because Kirsty (Fundraising Manager) told me I had to ;)
Since then it’s all been a bit of a disaster and I have relied heavily on the team at the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS trust to get me back to running/walking....
I was offloaded (that’s a clinical word for not being allowed to run or jump about and basically being told to sit down and wait) in February with a suspected stress fracture. ⚠️ 🚑
After 8 weeks of sitting on my ever-growing arse; Xrays, an mri and an ultrasound later confirmed it wasn’t a stress fracture but TWO neuromas. Neuromas are growths of nerve tissue between the spaces in your metatarsals (toe bones) which cause pain (in my case severe-can’t-walk-home-kinda-pain) when you walk /run.
Not ideal for anyone looking to train for a half.🧐
On diagnosis there’s not a lot they can do, so they told me I’m best not to wear heels again (like ever 🙄) gave me a special insole🤦🏼♀️( no really they did) And stuck two honking-great needles🤢 through the top of my foot to stop the pain. Wasn’t prepped for that, didn’t like it. Worked though.
So all in all, since March, I have seen #phyios #radiographers #ultrasonographers #orthopaedicsurgeons and #orthotics! So now I need to bloody run the thing to say thank you ❤️
If I make it round before the marshals pack up for home I’ll be well chuffed.
Your support is hugely appreciated ❤️⭐️
