Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my justgiving page.
Hello, my name is Tiggy. I am 10 years old and I live with my Granny and Grandad in Westgate.
Some of you may remember that just over 2 and a half years ago, having learned that my mum had breast cancer I decided to donate my hair to the Little Princess Trust and raise money for cancer research.
Fortunately my mum’s treatment was successful and she is now in remission.
However, she discovered that she has the faulty BRCA 2 gene.
Women with a faulty BRCA2 gene have an increased chance of getting breast and ovarian cancer. Men with the faulty gene have an increased chance of getting prostate and breast cancer. Both men and women have an increased chance of getting pancreatic cancer.
Very sadly, my Grandad, Richard POULTER who lots of you know was diagnosed with Stage 4 incurable prostate cancer last year. He is only 55. My Grandad is my world.
He is my best friend,
my teacher,
my hero and
I am his number 1.
I love him to the last number and beyond.
He also has the faulty BRCA 2 gene and he lost his mum to ovarian cancer when she was only 55.
It doesn’t take a genius, just a 10 year old to work out what that means for me and my family.
Anyway, my hair has all grown back and more, and again, I want to donate it to the Little Princess Trust and raise as much money as I can for cancer research. I shall be having my hair cut on Monday 17th October.
Please give as much as you can to cancer research so they can continue finding new ways to save people, like they have with my mum.
I am hoping that maybe they will get better treatments that will help my Grandad to live as long as possible so I get to spend as much time as I possibly can with him.
And who knows? Maybe one day they can mend the faulty genes so I don’t have to worry about me and my family.
Thank you so much for listening to my story and for your donations.
