Story
As the fashion industry embarks on a month-long circuit of women's shows amidst growing uncertainty and a dangerous narrative peddling division, The Business of Fashion invites you to join the #TiedTogether movement and make a clear statement in support of solidarity, human unity and inclusiveness.
The symbol of our movement is the white bandana — because in fashion, visuals often speak louder than words. So join together this Fashion Month to make a simple and singular visual statement: wear a white bandana as a sign to the world that you believe in the common bonds of humankind — regardless of race, sexuality, gender or religion.
Since launching the #TiedTogether movement on 8 February 2017, already hundreds of people around the world have participated. We are taking this one step further and raising money for the UNHCR and ACLU to reach a total of 10,000 #TiedTogether posts on Instagram during Fashion Month. For each #TiedTogether post, our donors and benefactors will pledge $5 to the #TiedTogether campaign. It's this simple: The more you post, the more money we raise together.
Thus far, the white bandana has been adopted by designers and creative directors including Tommy Hilfiger, Raf Simons for Calvin Klein, Jonathan Saunders for Diane von Furstenberg, Tadashi Shoji, Prabal Gurung and worn by models, celebrities and influencers including Gigi Hadid, Zayn Malik, Bella Hadid, Naomie Harris, Julianne Moore, Aimee Song and more.
Here's how you can get involved:
- Tie a white bandana around your wrist, neck, head, ankle or handbag and upload an image of your bandana to social media, tagging someone to show you are #TiedTogether as friends, family, neighbours . . . as humans.
- Register your support on the #TiedTogether website: tiedtogether.businessoffashion.com
- Donate to the ACLU and/or UNHCR. Please note that this fundraising campaign via Justgiving will only benefit the UNHCR. If you wish to donate to the ACLU, please go to https://www.crowdrise.com/tiedtogether-fashion-raises-money-in-the-name-of-inclusivity-unity-and-humanity
