WHY ARE WE SEEKING YOUR SUPPORT:

In July of last year, one of our team  members was diagnosed with severe heart disease. Despite living a healthy lifestyle and exercising regularly. They were fortunate enough to be treated fairly swiftly at Darent Valley. The hospital, though under constant pressure, was amazing, the Doctors and Nurses were amazing. They work tirelessly to look after their patients and they are cheerful too. With our support, the hospital can help more patients like our team mate. So many people must be in the position they ended up in.  Sadly, though, many will not be so lucky…. 

THE CHALLENGE:

Our team, the patient’s crazy family, a few amazing work colleagues and a couple of friends, are joining together for the London to Brighton Bike Ride on 18 June. Our team is ‘Tick Tick Boom’ and the ride is over 55 miles. A couple of seasoned cyclists, a few weekend riders and several who don’t even own a bike. Some who realise training is essential, a couple who are trying to fit in a few rides here and there, and several who seem to think they can just borrow a bike and see how they go! Wish us luck! We need all the luck we can get – what were we thinking!

WHAT ARE WE HOPING TO ACHIEVE:

Clearly we aim to raise as much money as possible and it will go directly to the Heart Centre at Darent Valley Hospital. The Centre is an integrated cardiac catheter lab, performing procedures such as coronary angioplasty/stenting, PPM, ICD and reveal device insertions. Monies will help fund the latest equipment, provide the most up to date care, allow Darent to keep their staff training up to date and help improve the overall patient experience for the heart patients in their care. Such a deserving cause…. And honestly, any one of us, or our family and/or friends may need them tomorrow.
