Story
After the earthquake on March 11th 2011, Tia decided to bring together her singing talent and the musical expertise of Pure Sounds (an Emirati art production and distribution company) to create a song that represents the power of survival in the people of Fukushima. Having lived in Iwaki City for almost three years, and having taught English at three local high schools (Heisho, Onahama Koukou and Nakoso Koukou), Tia came to know the students and people of Fukushima well. Becoming fluent in Japanese and immersing herself in the culture, Tia was embraced by the community and those she worked closely with, some of whom form what she now calls her ‘Japanese family’. News of the earthquake, tsunami and its aftermath moved Tia deeply and she decided she wanted to do something to help as can you.
She has therefore dedicated this song, called "Ganbappe Iwaki" to the people in Japan affected by the earth quake and the nuclear power plant. Her aim is to raise funds to help the earthquake victims in the reconstruction of their lives, having lost everything in the natural disaster.
