We care for seriously ill children to help them 'Make every day count'

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit Thurrock Ladies Rugby JustGiving page. We are taking part in the Hercules Triathlon in St. Alban's on Sunday 22nd September. As a team we will be swimming, biking and running our way to the finish line all for a great cause. Get behind us, support and donate to Little Havens Hospice!

Here is some information on our chosen charity we will support during our 2019/20 rugby season:

Little Havens Hospice is based in beautiful meadowland in Thundersley, just outside of Rayleigh in Essex. Whether they care for a child or young person for years, months, weeks or even just hours, they make a real difference to their life. They focus on the individual needs of the children they care for, 'Making every day count' for those with life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses and their families.

Who can they help?

If a family have a child or young person who has a life-limiting or life-threatening condition, Little Havens Hospice can help. They're there to make the journey as comfortable as possible, by offering planned respite stays, managing symptoms, for example controlling pain and adjusting medications and caring for children at the end of their lives.

“We look after the whole family”

They can care for children and young people up to the age of 19, and their families, from Essex and the surrounding London Boroughs. If a young person is referred for respite and is over 16 years of age they will consider whether another respite provider may be more suitable, this does not affect end of life and bereavement care.

They use a specific set of criteria to assess whether the care provided at Little Havens is suitable for your child, based on their needs.  They work closely with the professionals already involved in the care of the child. A referral to Little Havens doesn't mean that any treatment the child may be having will stop. At Little Havens, they look after the whole family which may include emotional or educational support for the child’s siblings, counselling for parents, grandparents and carers or assistance with social issues.
