We support homeless LGBTQ+ young people to ensure they're safe and supported

Story

🏳️‍🌈✨🏳️‍🌈💖🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈

Over the course of pride month I'm going to resist earth with gravity and hip thrust 90kg.

That's a lot of weight! 😱 It's going to be a hard lift that will take a lot of training but with the help of my PT we think we can do it! 💪

Why am I putting myself through this? It's pride month, I'm bi, and there are still LGBTQ+ kids being made homeless for being themselves.

All money raised will go to AKT, a UK LGBTQ+ charity giving young queer people housing, safety and an accepting community.

About AKT:
Lots of young people come out as LGBTQ+ to their families and are embraced and supported. But that’s not always the case.

Coming out, or being outed as LGBTQ+ can lead to young people being made homeless. This is the reality for 77% of the young people akt supports. Sometimes families are unaccepting and abusive. The locks changed. Possessions destroyed.

akt exists to support these young people and can offer safety and hope in an open and accepting environment. We help with housing and also to help them celebrate their identity.

I'm doing this as part of Safe Spaces. We are a group of game devs who are LGBTQ+ or allies aiming to collectively raise £3,000.
