Story
In memory of Jess and Josh's Mum, Helen Durham, we are raising funds for the MS Society. Unfortunately Helen died from Multiple Sclerosis, aged 36, in 2001.
Around 100,000 people in the UK have MS. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a condition of the central nervous system. In MS, the coating around nerve fibres (called myelin) is damaged, causing a range of symptoms.
It's normally diagnosed in people between the ages of 20 and 40, and affects almost three times as many women as men. Once diagnosed, MS stays with you for life, but treatments and specialists can help manage the symptoms. The cause is yet unknown and there is no cure, but research is progressing fast. This charity is a real worthwhile cause!
So.........we are going on an adventure!!!
Adey, Jess, Josh, Heledd, Iwan and of course Lily will be starting the long trip to Scotland on the 9th August. Once there and after a nights sleep under canvas, we will climb Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in the United Kingdom at 1,344 metres high. After another not so comfortable night sleep we will be heading to the Peak District to tackle the highest peak in England, Scaffel Pike 978 metres high. The final stretch of the journey will take us to Snowdonia and a steep hike to the peak of Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales at 1,085 metres.
We expect sore legs, achy knees and sleepless nights and would be thankful for any money you can spare to support our cause!
