Story

Anthony, Chris, Ben, Billy, Dave and Adam are taking on the Three Peaks Challenge for Elise! This is one of the most extreme trekking challenges in the UK and involves climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon), one after another – with an aim to complete the challenge within 24 hours.

We are doing this to raise money for Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT), the UK charity solely dedicated to helping families and individuals affected by retinoblastoma, a rare form of eye cancer. We chose CHECT because they have supported Anthony and his family
throughout his daughter's battle against cancer.

Elise’s Story (from Anthony)

On the day my daughter Elise turned 21 months old, she was diagnosed with bilateral retinoblastoma. This is a rare and aggressive form of eye cancer that affects babies and young children, mainly under the age of six.

The cancer has meant Elise has lost all vision in her left eye, which may not return. As you can imagine this has been a difficult time for my family and I. She has had to undergo various operations and treatments, including chemotherapy, blood transfusions and more recently, cryotherapy. The good news is Elise has had incredible care teams around her throughout her treatment, including those in Royal London Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital, and St Mary's Hospital. Thanks to their work, Elise has finished her chemotherapy treatment and her condition is looking much better.

Luckily Elise's cancer was spotted early enough to treat. However, many children and adults live with the consequences of a delayed diagnosis or the late effects of treatment received. In addition to raising awareness, funding research into the prevention and treatment of retinoblastoma can produce real change. This is our purpose for taking on the Three Peaks Challenge, and are grateful for any donation you can make.
