Story
A team of 14 are aiming to climb Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike and Snowdonia - the National Three Peaks - in 24 hours this September in aid of the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
MND is a rare condition that progressively damages parts of the nervous system leading to muscle weakness, twitches, slurred speech and difficulty swallowing.
This ultimately fatal illness has impacted various family members and friends of those taking on the challenge, including Dr Louise Jordan who was diagnosed with MND in 2021.
Louise is a supporter - and poster girl - for the Rob Burrow Centre, part of the Leeds Hospital Trust, and the reason we are walking for this charity. To read more about Louise’s story please visit: https://www.leedshospitalscharity.org.uk/louise-jordan-7-stories-of-mnd
Team member, Matthew Brailsford lost his mum, Sue Brailsford, to MND in 2011 after a short, six-month battle. Sue was known to her friends as Lil, the name given to her grand daughter who was born in 2016.
Support for the Rob Burrow Centre appeal will help to build a state-of-the-art MND Care Centre to give people with MND and their families the best possible care and support under one roof.
