Story

So, after too many wines, and having had Stage 3 Bowel cancer diagnosed and operated on in 2020/2021, Cookie announced that to prove to himself that he was tougher than this terrible disease and that he was fully on the road to recovery, he’d have another go at running the London Marathon in sub 4 hours. Fortunately for him his great mates Brad, Hydey, Liz and Thorny agreed that he couldn’t do this alone and needed all the support he could muster - just the kind of friends you need to turn a crap (sorry!) experience into a force for good. So despite our creaking bodies and deluded minds we’ve committed to getting ourselves in ship shape condition to be able to drag ourselves around the 26.2 mile course. Although research into, and awareness of the importance of gut health is on the rise it’s still an area that is not very well understood. Bowel cancer is also a very curable disease if diagnosed early, but because the symptoms often involve checking and discussing poo, and the medical investigations involve inserting fingers and / or cameras up bottoms it’s all a bit embarrassing. So by raising shit (sorry, again!) loads of cash and awareness we hope more people will talk more openly about the disease, it’s causes and symptoms and fewer and fewer people will die unnecessarily early from this disease. Thanks in advance for your support and we’ll see you on the other side 😉 🏃🏻‍♀️ 🏃 🏃🏻‍♂️ 🏃🏼‍♂️ 🏃🏽‍♂️
