Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Mental health has an impact on all of us - tough times or a change in circumstance can have a real and impact on someone’s wellbeing, especially in the unprecedented times we are currently living in. These issues are so wide ranging, from depression and anxiety to addiction or schizophrenia. Each one requiring a different kind of help and support. Mental health affects so many, including myself, family, friends and loved ones. Therefore, it is vital that everyone has access to the resources they require to avoid people suffering uneccesarily.
As a result, on the 22nd June 2020 at 9am, I will begin walking along the length of the river thames - from the O2 Arena, on the river towards the Thames estuary, through London to the other end of the river in the Chilterns. The route totals over 100km, I will be recording the walk on Strava and tracking my progress. I aim to complete the walk in under 24 hours, arriving in Crendon by 9am the next day (23rd June 2020) and all money raised will be donated to MIND charity. A very worthwhile cause which helps to raise awareness for various mental health issues as well as giving support and information to those who need it most.
Approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK experience a mental health issue each year, many of them going undiagnosed and untreated. It is vital that people are aware of their mental health and pro active about the mental wellbeing of themselves and others. MIND provides vital resources, support and respect for these individuals - as well as running multiple nationwide campaigns.
