Step into Spring Challenge - 250k Steps in 30 Days Challenge
This April, Bournemouth University has launched a 30-day active challenge. They are calling on BU graduates from around the world to help cover a combined distance of 3,000 kilometres. I have set myself a target of walking 250k steps in 30 days.
Money raised will go to BU's Student Hardship fund. This fund helps students with little or no funds to cover essential costs to continue their studies. The fund can help with childcare and accommodation, as well as the cost of books and vital equipment. BU is experiencing an ongoing surge in applications for support as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly due to the loss of part-time work.
Here’s how your donations could help:
- £10 – covers a small shop for essential food or a prescription for medication
- £25 – covers a weekly food shop or a top-up of electricity/gas
- £50 – covers study materials, books, printer ink, or computer equipment such as a microphone or headphones to help students engage with their course remotely
- £100 – covers work placement start-up costs (such as clothing, equipment or travel), or a week’s rent
- £250 – covers a new laptop/tablet to undertake course work, or childcare costs whilst studying
