Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Monday next week (31 October 2011), after waiting 48 years I'll be taking to the beautiful streets of Dublin with my sister Thea to run my first and last marathon.
I have been persuaded to run the marathon in one of my favourate cities to raise money for two worthy causes that have had a major impact on my life. The two charities I hope to benefit from my endeavours will be Action for Children and cancer Research.
In February 2010 year, I was contacted by Action for Children who had been asked by a family from New Mexico to try to find a blood relative of their adopted daughter Thea. It transpired that I had a sister that I never knew I had and within a few weeks we met for the very first time. I will be for ever grateful to Action for Children.
Unfortunately, I had to inform Thea that her mother had succombed to cancer at the tender age of 52 shortly after returning to live in Ireland. I will always be grateful for the care given to my mother and wish to assist in a small way in helping to continue the superb work done by cancer charities to prolong peoples lives and offer long term cures for this terrible disease.
