Story
I have decided to trek to Everest base camp in 2021 because I wanted to achieve something that is out of the ordinary and that I could be proud of. I have no trekking experience, so this will definitely be a challenge for me! Although, the challenging aspect is what drew me to this event; to put myself out of my comfort zone and to see what I am capable of.
I hope to gain a different perspective from this experience, and to prove anything can be achieved if you work hard enough at it.
Throughout the next 10 months before I leave in August, I will be training and fundraising for my trip, posting updates on this page in the process. This climb is in aid of the Meningitis Research Foundation, so I will also be posting about the work they are doing, so you can see how your kind donations are helping to defeat Meningitis and Septicaemia.
Shockingly, meningitis and neonatal sepsis are the second biggest infectious killer of children under the age of five on the planet, affecting more than 5 million people every year. They can kill you within 12 hours and are responsible for more deaths of children under 5 than malaria, measles, tetanus and AIDS combined. The work of the Meningitis Research Foundation is providing better access to vaccines, health systems that can diagnose and treat children, and support to survivors of meningitis. Thanks to your support they've pioneered a global roadmap, bringing together global expertise to defeat meningitis by 2030. Its time to make meningitis a global health priority, you can do this today by donating using the donate button.
Thankyou very much for any and all donations, which will go towards research that is trying to track, isolate and reduce the effects of the bacteria and viruses that cause Meningitis and Septicaemia.
