Story
Up until August 2019 Pablo served as a drugs, cash and weapons recovery dog for Norfolk & Suffolk Police.
Throughout his career Pablo helped with the recovery of over £250,000 worth of illegal drugs, numerous weapons and cash before his retirement.
In January 2021, Pablo underwent a life saving operation to remove a tumour in his stomach. This operation cost £4,000, which was funded in full by the Thin Blue Paw Foundation.
The Thin Blue Paw was founded in May 2020 and relies soley on generous donations to be able to support both serving and retired Police dogs.
Many people are unaware that retired police dogs do not receive financial support in their retirement from the force they served with, meaning the responsibility for their care and vet bills fall solely to their ex-handler or new owner. Unable to get pet insurance due to their working life, many are left with ongoing vet bills which can amount to thousands. The foundation provides much needed financial support to these unsung canine heroes and their owners to enable them to have a long and happy retirement.
To celebrate the one year anniversary of the founding of the Thin Blue Paw charity; in May 2021, we plan on running 4km per day for the duration of the month, a total of 248km's between us!
4,000m per day for the £4,000 cost of Pablo's operation. This is to help raise much needed funds for the charity to enable them to support more dogs like Pablo.
We had originally set our target at £400 but having smashed that within a few days, we've upped it to £1,000!
