We support people in Scotland to rebuild their lives

Story

We are hosting a memorial American Football tournament on 2nd
July 2016 at Toryglen football centre held in honour and loving memory of Alan and Brenda Wilson with all proceeds going to the charity Chest Heart Stroke Scotland (SC018761). Their three surviving children are hosting this event supported by close family, friends and the local community to celebrate their lives and achievements bringing together a sport and the people their parents loved so dearly.

We chose to donate to Chest Heart Stroke Scotland as their work is very
close to our hearts. They offer services and support for those who have been affected by chest, heart and stroke illnesses across Scotland. Both Alan and Brenda lost their lives to an illness supported by this charity.

Alan passed away very suddenly, at the age of 58, of an unexpected heart attack in September 2015. He lived an active life giving a lot of time and effort to the American Football community in Scotland. He has since been known as “Mr American Football” by a STV news article reflecting on his life and contribution to the sport shortly after his passing.

Brenda fell ill the morning of her late husband’s funeral suffering a
brain aneurysm. She was rushed to hospital and unfortunately missed Alan’s funeral. She underwent significant brain surgery to repair the aneurysm however after a two week battle, suffering multiple strokes, she unfortunately passed away exactly 4 weeks after her late husband and shortly after her 58th Birthday. Brenda was a long serving member of the Cambuslang and Rutherglen communities playing key roles in the Girl’s Brigade and later donating a lot of time and effort alongside her husband within the American Football community.

Alan and Brenda met when they where 18 years old. They devoted their life together raising their family and donating their spare time and effort to the local community supporting activities and sports both they and their family loved.

We hope you can join us in supporting such a wonderful event celebrating the lives of two very special people and a fantastic charity.

Any help or support you can offer would be greatly appreciated -Thank you in advance!
