Story
In March 2010 our much-loved father in law, William Courtauld, lost his battle with cancer. William was a truly inspiring man; a dedicated father and friend with uncompromising moral values and strength of character that never faltered. We dedicate this marathon to William in remembrance of a truly remarkable man.
During his illness, William drew upon the unwavering support of his family and friends together with guidance from healthcare professionals, including the wonderful team at Maggie's. Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centers are places of learning and support for all those devastated by cancer. They offer respite and hope to patients, and those around them, whether they be overwhelmed by the weight of their illness or simply in need of advice. The centres are housed in uplifting and welcoming buildings that inspire positivity and hope. Visitors are free to participate in classes, read or simply have a cup of tea with people that understand and can help. The essence of Maggie’s is “to empower people to live with, through and beyond cancer”.
By donating to this wonderful cause we hope, in some small way, to do the same.
We shall also be donating the first £400 raised as a minimum to the Brathay Trust (http://www.brathay.org.uk), the organisers of the marathon. The Brathay Trust works to support some of the most vulnerable children and young people in the UK, helping them to transition from their challenging and difficult childhoods to positive adult life
