The Whale Warriors take on TEIDE!

The Whale Warriors take on the infamous TEIDE CHALLENGE!!! In a time of great uncertainty we aim to bring you a sense of hope and a glimmer of positivity. What a year 2020 has been so far! First of all the sacred Dolphin House was burnt to the ground, destroying years of hard work and countless precious memories. Then just as the new coordinator team begins to make real progress rebuilding our ‘House of Dreams’ from the ashes, the world is struck with a global pandemic; COVID-19 strikes all of Europe. But fear not, we will not be beaten! In the face of adversity we band together and KEEP MOVING FORWARD. As a symbol of this fight to remain positive, the last men standing at the AWdF base camp in Tenerife plan to take on the TEIDE CHALLENGE!!! Many of you expressed your wishes to take on the challenge to raise money, supporting our efforts to rebuild the Dolphin House, but with European borders in lockdown, we have heard your call to arms and have taken up the challenge to complete this mission in honour of all our supporter’s. Our new coordinator team and remaining volunteers will climb the third largest volcano in the world with pride and honour, in a bid to shine a light on humanity in dark and uncertain times! The Dolphin House is gone?!?! What happened?

Unfortunately in January this year there was a fire at the Dolphin House (the heart an soul of the AWdF operations) and all primary data, furniture and keepsakes were lost. Who’s mad enough to take on the challenge?

The team consists of Mick (the muscle), Eve (the big enchilada), Jensen (Mr Magoo), Nathan (the tech nerd), Paul (the Glaswegian Penguin) and Mimi (moral support coordinator) collectively known as  The Whale Warriors.

How long has Mick ‘The Muscle’ got to get the team TEIDE READY?!

We have chosen to complete this challenge on Earth day, the 22^nd
April 2020. We WILL reach the summit at sunrise as a token of respect to Mother Nature on a day dedicated to celebrating the glorious earth that we are all honoured to call our home! Get involved and tune in on the day as we will stream the sunrise live across all our social media channels.

That’s a hell of a long hike! Why are we putting ourselves through this?

• To raise vital money to support the AWdF through
  financially difficult times
• In honour of all our supporters who couldn’t make
  it to Teide to complete the challenge personally due to the COVID-19 outbreak
• To prove to the world the AWdF community is a
  force to be reckoned with; together there is nothing we can’t achieve!
