Story
We are taking on a challenge known as the Welsh 3000s at the end of July.
It is an unmarked route taking in all of the 3000ft mountain peaks in Wales in one go. The most direct route is approximately 56km long, takes in all 15 peaks of 3000+ ft and includes a leg sapping 4000m of climb and decent. That's if you don't get lost or go off course..
We are a team of 6, 5 of us taking on the mountains and ably supported by our team of 1, who will hopefully pick up the pieces on route and keep us well fuelled throughout the day/night before driving what is left of us home at the end.
The aim is for most (if not all) of us to complete the route in under 20 hours. Looking at previous attempts of this route, this is an ambitions aim, but if we are asking for donations for a worthy charity the challenge has to be just that, and it certainly will be!
We will try and post updates on here and social media. We will be going on either the 24th or 25th of July depending on weather
We intend to have a tracking device so you can login when we are on the move and see how we are doing. The link to follow
The details of our chosen charity are below in their words. I have seen the amazing results of their work and this challenge in the mountains seems very fitting indeed.
If you can donate, even a small amount it would be very much appreciated, Thanks and wish us good luck and good weather!
Snow-Camp are the UK's only charity using a unique combination of skiing, snowboarding, mental wellbeing support, education, life-skills training and vocational opportunities to support and empower inner-city young people. They are passionate about delivering an alternative approach to engage young people by providing an energising environment at indoor snowdomes in the UK, in order for them to gain qualifications, build relationships and go onto find employment. During a year-long programme journey young people will go from never having experienced skiing or snowboarding to becoming qualified Snowsports England or Scotland Level 1 instructors.
"All the experiences I've gained from Snow-Camp have changed me as a person. I use the skills I've learnt all the time in life outside of snowboarding and Snow-Camp. The main characteristics that I now possess because of Snow-Camp are ambition and determination"
Ava, Snow-Camp young person.
