James Hits The Wall

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On June 16th I'll be attempting to run 69 miles, inside the 26 hour time limit, to raise money and awareness for GRiT. It's a new charity that aims to help the mental health and wellbeing of teenagers via a 12 week programme. You can read more about GRiT here: https://gritcharity.org
My older sister, one of the founders, was affected by these issues as a teenager and her experience has had a lasting effect on me. I still marvel at how she has shown strength to go from being hospitalised for years to being a doctor, a wife, a mother of three and so much more besides. And now she's determined to help others in the boat she sailed in many years ago. I can't do much like her, but I can try and run. And I said I'd never do another marathon. And I like beer. And after several beers last summer, I found out about "The Wall". And I decided to do it for GRiT.
With just under 7 weeks to go, I'm nearly ready. I've done a lot of training, including 3 training marathons, one run of 28.5 miles and one run of 40 miles. I've not yet cried in pain but it's been close a couple of times. So if you could spare any little amount to make this even more worthwhile I'd be eternally grateful. I'm aiming for £1,800 because that will pay for 3 teenagers to go through the full 12-week programme.
Also, all expenses for the run - the entrance fee, equipment (lots of it!), food (even more), transport and hotels (one in Carlisle, one in Newcastle) are being covered by me. All of your donations will go to GRiT. And maybe one of the teenagers who benefits might be your GP one day 😊
