Story
At My 1st Years we’re not just here for your celebrations, we’re also here for your difficult moments. These are uncertain times amidst the COVID-19 outbreak and our hearts go out to every family affected by the pandemic.
As part of our My BIG Community campaign we are partnering with The Trussell Trust to provide support and comfort to families across the country. The Trussell Trust is a wonderful organisation who support a network of food banks across the country. They work to provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.
We want to do what we can to make things easier for those most in need, for single parent families, families with children who normally receive free school meals, those unable to work and many more affected by the virus. We invite you, our community, to join us in this movement for compassion.
More and more people are being forced to food banks because there’s nowhere else for them to turn. Last year the food banks in The Trussell Trust's network provided 1.6 million three-day emergency food supplies to people in crisis and over 500,000 of these went to children. This was an increase of almost 20% on the previous year.
And now, as the Coronavirus pandemic develops, more people than ever need their help. This situation presents a huge additional pressure to the already overstretched network of food banks. The Trussell Trust are working closely with their food banks to support them in any way they need so that those most vulnerable to the impacts of poverty and isolation can survive these months of crisis. We would be truly grateful for your support.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be keeping you updated on the concrete action we’re taking to provide this essential support and let you know all the ways that you can make a meaningful difference.
With Love,
My 1st Years
