Sources suggest the end of race Rivelino gig will be at The Fountain!!
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
GNR veterans Graham and Steph are once again donning their running shoes to tackle the world's biggest half marathon, this year for GNR's official charity - Diabetes UK.
In respect of this charity Steph and Graham have managed to 'persuade' the current family Diabetic - Neil, to join them on the gruelling 13.1 mile trek. Neil has run little more than a bath since he was at school so this is especially challenging for all involved.
Diabetes is a cause especially close to the family's hearts as along with Neil being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2007, Graham's late father, Steph & Neil's Grandfather, Jim who passed away in January 2009 also suffered from the condition. The Todds will therefore be running to raise money to support the ongoing great work Diabetes UK does for those in the UK with the condition, in memory of Jim, and also in memory of Joe Irvine who also sadly passed away five years ago this summer. Both are fondly remembered, deeply loved and always in our hearts.
As most of you know, Graham and Neil are founding members of the mighty 'Rivelino' local band extrodinaire, and we will be pestering you for donations at forthcoming gigs during the summer. We pledge that should we reach our fundraising target in advance of the date we will organise a Thank You gig on the night of the Great North Run at an establishment not-too-far from the finish line.
For the first time the band will be 'Wasted' at the beginning and end of the night :)
For those interested Steph is the current family course record holder with last year's time so the sensible money is most defiantly on her to cross the line and get the pints in at The Bamburgh first....
So guys & gals please dig deep and donate and help us achieve and exceed our target - We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts :))
Much love,
Steph, Graham & Neil
