Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Sue has worked for the Baca Charity since January 2018 and we would like to take part in the 3000 Miles challenge for the following reasons:
1. It takes a unaccompanied asylum seeking young person an average of 3000 miles to travel from the country they were forced to flee to reach the safety of Baca in the UK. Their journey will have taken 2-3 years, some will have been trafficked, some exploited, many will have had times of being homeless and hungry. Imagine traveling this journey completely alone as a teenager without any family or anyone to protect and support you. We want to partner with their story by walking 800 miles of this challenge over 12 weeks.
2. We want to support Baca by fundraising- they do everything with excellence, they provide care, love, support and masses of encouragement to the young people (aged 16-18 years old) who arrive in the UK with just the clothes they are wearing. Baca help restore hope into their lives and help them begin to shape their futures. They provide them with a safe home in specialised accommodation, help them learn to live in a new culture and society, provide the opportunity to learn english and begin their journey in education, they help them process the past through Art Therapy and encourage them simply to be young people through sports clubs, and various other activities. Baca help them shape their futures, but we believe Baca are investing in future men and women who may just influence our future society in a very positive way!
We hope this convinces you to sponsor us as we walk 800 miles over 12 weeks!
