Hello, we are Katie, Shadi, Vicky, Liz and Jess and we are completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks on 17th September 2016 to raise money for AMMF! This is 24 miles of endurance which we aim to complete in one day. 

AMMF is a charity which supports the research and awareness of a rare cancer called cholangiocarcinoma. It is the ONLY charity which specifically supports this type of cancer!

So, most importantly, why?

We are doing this all for the amazing Michelle Matthews. We were lucky enough to know Michelle when she started work in Wakefield before she became an extremely close friend. With great sadness we are raising money for the charity as Michelle died in June 2016 of this rare type of cancer (not rare enough for our liking)!

Michelle was a mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend and so much more. She was also a pretty amazing social worker who gave lots to children in Wakefield.

Michelle was just 31 when she died and lived with the disease for 20 months before being cruelly taken. 

We all know too well the pain and devastation cancer causes and so we don't want to dwell on Michelle's life with cancer as there was so much more to her. To us she was brave and dignified - even those she hated us saying so. Many of you were lucky enough to know Michelle and I don't want to cause further pain many still feel.

We are doing this walk for Michelle but also for the thousands suffering with cholangiocarcinoma today. Michelle told us of a few friends she made through the the illness and we are raising money thinking of them too. 

As hard as it is Michelle wouldn't want us to be sad but get on with this. She was very pragmatic and got on with the job.

So she has inspired us to 'get on' and start fundraising for an excellent charity who she sought support from!

Anything is greatly appreciated and will spur us on when we're on our knees at that last peak!! 24 miles over three 'mountains' will not be easy for any of us but we WILL all complete this!! Please give as much or little as you can.
