Update 10/5

The boys done good!!!

We all completed the Ultra through extreme weather conditions of gale force winds and rain for 4 of the days. There were bogs and rivers up to our waists , there were navigational errors although only by a few hundred yards, there were beautiful views(when we could see any), some fantastic people we met and some mental demons and emotions we had to overcome to get us through the most ardous race we have ever done.

Our team spirit got us through and this was recognised with a prize at the end.For thanking all the marshals who appeared in the most extreme locations , for smiling and laughing no matter what was thrown at us.The race was for the three of us to start and finish together and get each other through..WE DONE IT!!

The 140 miles were completed in 5 days because the organisers combined the days due to the weather and the fact we were putting on wet clothes everyday..

10 people withdrew for various reasons between hypotherrmia, injuries or just pure exhaustion. We also slept in barns with the sheepdog and swallows for company.

An experience we will never forget and Jas's 50th will be embedded in our head for a long time.

Thanks again to everybody..we now just have enough time to recover before the Edinburgh marathon , the llarig Ghru race and Ben Nevis race..Bring it on !!

Cheers

Craig , Richard and Jas

Hi

We are Richard Shaw,Jas Baillie and Craig Liddle and we are about to embark on the Vango Scottish Ultra ,The Toughest Multistage Ultramarathon in the UK on the 3rd to 8th of May.

The event will see athletes cover 140 miles over 6 days taking in high mountains, raised beaches, isolated tracks/trails and strength sapping coastal terrain in one of the more remote and certainly most extreme environments that Britain has to offer.

Why Maggie's?

Most people nowadays know someone, either a friend or family member who is suffering, recovering or has died from cancer and unfortunately we are no exception to that rule. One of our inspirations to do this race is due to the rocky road that Jas has encountered through his treatment and recovery from Cancer..Running has been a major therapy for Jas and the idea of combining fund raising for Maggies and three mates running together seemed the natural way to go! although most people think we're mad , especially since we are also doing the Edinburgh Marathon two weeks later. So if  you all can dig deep for Maggies it would be greatly appreciated..

We will update you all with how we get on over the next few months and thanks again for all your support.

Cheers

Richard , Jas  and Craig
