Why I’m running to support The Christie…….

…….There are around 298,000 new cases of cancer diagnosed each year in the UK and more than 1 in 3 people will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime

8 People in my family have been diagnosed with cancer, not all of whom survived, so I know what a huge difference this money will make, and I speak from the heart when I say The Christie is truly an amazing place.

It is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating over 40,000 patients a year and every penny you give will fund projects at The Christie which are outside the scope of the NHS. Last year  nearly £12 million was raised, which funded a whole range of things, including a new radiopharmacy, to communications skills training for nursing staff, a new state-of-the-art surgical robot, groundbreaking cancer research and our wig service (to name but a few).

The huge difference this makes to patients is apparent across the entire organisation –helping patients both cope with and survive cancer.

We couldn't do this without the fantastic support of people, both across the North West and around the UK.
