Since becoming a board member of the Dorchester YMCA last fall, I have been continuously inspired by the important work they have done in our community, and the incredible ways they stepped up to support our local youth and families during the pandemic- from virtual learning centers to providing sustenance to fight food insecurity, they lead the way here in Boston on how to create and support community from within. They are currently in the midst of summer camp programming, helping with vaccine rollout, and in the early stages of rolling out a mindfulness/meditation program to support the mental wellness of their staff and youth members.
