We are The Red Rising. The issue: helping homeless people in Oxford - the city with the highest number of homeless outside of London. Most people walk past homeless people on the streets regularly without donating, despite feeling sympathy for them. Why? Because we don't feel comfortable giving to strangers.
Today we give you a chance to give to genuinely needy homeless people who will be helped through a proper and trusworthy charitable setup.
So what is The Red Rising doing? Well apart from causing sedition in Egypt and peasant revolts in East Timor, we will be driven to an unknown location a hundred miles from Oxford and have to hitchhike our way back to Oxford. We will enter the English hinterland and bringing the message of anti-fuedalism to the peasants who missed the boat in 1831. Our members: Pablo "Don Quixote" Medina, Ibrahim "I care for the poor because I care for mysef" Khan, and Deborah De "I own biscuits" Beukelaer.
Challenges we face on our journey:
1. Ibrahim being dressed as an Arab
2. Pablo resisting bricking any passing police station
3. Deborah containing her violent tendencies.
4. Pablo resisting the temptation to annexe an abandoned farm and call it The Commune Of Latter Day Comrades
5. Ibrahim resisting the temptation to launch a counter revolution amongst the cows on aforementioned farm
6. Deborah resisting the temptation to roll her eyes and say, "Animal Farm".
But seriously guys, apart from banter there is a serious issue at stake her. You wouldn't like being out there at night without a place to stay, so please do give generously to help these people - often as young as us or younger - to get back on their feet.
