Story
Hi all So like a lot of other people during the pandemic myself and my colleagues have been walking a lot more for exercise and to help our mental health. We wanted to set ourselves a challenge to help us stay motivated during this difficult time and felt the UK 3 peaks challenge would be a good way to continue to push ourselves and stay active in the current climate. We have selected four charities close to the heart of individual team members and the group as a whole. The reasons for these will be discussed further shortly. Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital charity was selected as it is one of the UK's leading specialist hospitals for the care of people with heart and lung diseases (we all work here). Donations help to purchase vital equipment, fund innovative research and provide additional amenities for our patients and their families. CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families. We provide clinical, practical, financial and emotional support to help them cope with cancer and get the most out of life. We are there from diagnosis onwards and aim to help the whole family deal with the impact of cancer and its treatment, life after treatment and, in some cases, bereavement Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust is the UK’s only charity dedicated to those affected by cervical abnormalities and cervical cancer. Every day around 2 women die from cervical cancer and a further 9 are diagnosed. We are there 24 hours a day offering a range of support and information services. We want to see cervical cancer become a disease of the past. With your help, we can make this a reality. For more information on what life is like fighting against cervical cancer from an inspirational lady please see the link below. https://cervicalcancerisabitch.com The Merseyside Thursday Club is a non-profit charity social club for adults with learning difficulties, run totally by volunteers in Liverpool. Our primary aim is to develop the social skills of our members by increasing social interaction with other club members and the general public, and as such enrich members' lives and enhance their self esteem while still having fun. The club organises days out, weekend and week long holidays among many other thursday night activities. This is a great cause for which the helpers and members of the club will be eternally grateful for your support.
