Story
My younger sister Isabella (14) was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia on the 20th April of this year. Whilst undergoing her first phase of chemotherapy, Izzy battled through various infections and procedures, eventually leading to major surgery. Under the best care in the world at Alder Hey Children’s hospital, Izzy spent more than 2 months in total as an inpatient in intensive care, a high dependency unit and on the oncology ward.
The Owen McVeigh foundation is a local Liverpool charity who aim to enhance the lives of children with cancer and their families. Whilst Izzy was in hospital recovering from surgery, The Owen McVeigh foundation got in contact with our family and provided Izzy with countless activities to look forward to. So far Izzy has experienced a week away in Peacock Lodge, a boat trip in Liverpool, a live Dr Dolittle performance in the park with pizza and the list goes on - all gifted from this amazing charity.
Izzy inspires everyone around her every single day with he brave, fighting spirit and we could not be more proud of her as she continues her battle to a full recovery.
