Story
We are Letty, Andrew, Judith & Sally and we're off on a massive stroll to raise money for Macmillan. All of us have been affected by cancer in one way or another, so we wanted to stick two fingers up at it by hitting the Peaks with a gigantic sack of sandwiches.
Letty's story:
My Mum and Dad have both gone head to head with cancer, and now it's my Stepmum's turn. Having cancer is the pits. Caring for people with cancer is also quite bleak. Without the likes of MacMillan, I would have lost three people I love very much which doesn't really bear thinking about. So basically, I'm climbing up 26 miles worth of massive hills with my good chums Andrew, Judith, Sally to raise as much money as possible for MacMillan, so they can keep on saving the people we love.
Judith's Story:
I’ve had too many friends and family affected by cancer but, unfortunately, I’ve got no medical expertise to research a cure, and my nursing skills are limited to kissing knees better. However, I do have a pair of sturdy legs that I’d love you to sponsor on the Peak District Mighty Hike to fundraise for Macmillan. Having run a marathon, I thought this would be a walk in the park. But it turns out the park is 26.2 miles long and the walk is up and down lots of hills. And it’s going to take me at least 12 hours! Yikes! Please throw money at Macmillan to keep me going.
Andrew's Story:
I’m delighted to join The Peaky Troopers and to help raise funds for this fantastic charity.
I felt compelled to appoint myself as Chief Happiness Officer for our little merry band of walkers and will be armed with a Jeroboam of Tizer, a chocolate log, 2 Battenberg cakes and a packet of Scampi Fries to help lift the spirits and jolly things along when the going gets tough in the final 25 or so miles.
You’ve also got to feel for these three wonderful ladies as being stuck on a mountain with me for 12 hours will be no fun at all - but by bunging us a few quid you are, not only donating to a great cause, but have made their pain and suffering even more worthwhile. Thanks ever so - it means a lot to us all.
