Story
In most cases, the outcome for men with testicular cancer is positive, but a 95% chance of survival is no comfort to the 1 man in 20 who won't make it.
Within a month of participating in Movember and a Mo'Run I was diagnosed with testicular cancer in December 2014. After a successful orchidectomy and surveillance over the past 2 and a half years, I've been all clear to date with no signs of any further cancer. As you can expect, this a subject close to my own heart, and my nether regions.
Since my diagnosis I've worked closely with The Movember Foundation and had the opportunity to help support the amazing work they do, and I'm doing my bit to help spread the word even further this year.
As part of a Movember team, I'm taking on Ride London's 100 mile route on a Brompton folding bike on July 30th. Whilst I'm not too bad at jogging on pavements for a couple of hours, Lance Armstrong I am not! I don't think I'll be picking up the Yellow Jersey any time soon, but where is the reward in doing things you find comfortable?!?...
There is an 8 hour cut-off time, so I'll be spending a fair bit of that time in the pain cave! If anyone has any recommendations for padded pants and piles cream it would be much appreciated!
I'm hoping to hit my target of £500 ahead of the event, and any donations will be gratefully received. I'll be rocking a Mo' and some dapper threads for the event too - No lycra allowed. Strictly gentlemen only my old'pip! Surely that's worth a quid or two!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thanks everyone! And remember to jingle those balls!
