Story

2020 was a tough and uncertain year for a great many people, not least those of the Country sports community.  The daily struggles against the elements, political pressures, family issues, loss of loved ones or financial insecurities. This stoic community, of which prides itself on tradition and resilience, has come under considerable pressure in an ever-evolving world in recent years. On occasion, these pressures can have an adverse effect on the mental wellbeing of a people that have always seen themselves as alone, but never lonely.

Thanks to the amazing work of the Gamekeepers Welfare Trust this diverse community of men, women and their families have a safety net that they can rely on when it is needed most. Whether it be advice and support, or helping individuals and families relocate and find new employment. Perhaps even just ‘an ear’ on the end of the phone when needed. Rarely, do they ask anything in return.

And it is for this community a small group of Stalkers and Gamekeepers from the Scottish Highlands are getting together and undertaking ‘The Long Walk Home’ from Glasgow to Fort William -  AKA; The West Highland Way. In late spring, the team will yomp the 96 miles 'home' with all the kit they require to camp individually, and remain COVID compliant.

Our team is determined to raise as much as they can for the Gamekeepers Welfare Trust, in order to help them continue to provide this invaluable and vital service for many years to come. In a sense, to give a little something back, demonstrate solidarity and fly the flag of the gamekeeping community nationwide. Demonstrating that even in these times of crisis....We are as one.

Please give and share as much as you can – your support WILL make the difference! Thank you.
