Story
Thank you for taking time to visit my Just Giving page, my 7 year old daughter Ellie died from a rare Brain Tumour in 2015. Ellie loved cycling & could ride a bicycle without stabilisers when she was just 3 years old.
The Challenge
In 2018 I am planning to ride Ellie's little pink bike from Bristol Children's Hospital to Land's End, which is about 211 miles in total. The journey will take me out of Bristol city centre & south through Avon,Somerset, Devon & Cornwall. I plan to reach Land's End about a week later.
Ellie's bike is from Islabikes https://www.islabikes.co.uk/ designed for a 7 year old so it is pretty small compared to my height of 6 foot. There are numerous physical challenges, as well as the distance that I will have to contend with.
The Charity
Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children in the UK. Despite this, just 2% of the UK's overall spend on research cancer, is designated specifically to brain tumours. As a result, progress is slow and prognosis often poor. The Brain Tumour Charity are committed to changing this and to date have invested over £18 million in to brain tumour research. You can read more about this here - https://www.thebraintumourcharity.org/our-research/
How can you help?
Please support me by donating what you can to this page. £250 could fund one day of research, so every penny really does make a difference.
