On 2nd August 2016, Our beautiful sister Tracy gave birth to an angel. Millie Olivia Cotton. With her supportive husband by her side, they faced any couples worst nightmare imaginable, the loss of their baby girl.
That nightmare didn't end there and a year later, herself and Andy wake up every day with a piece of their hearts missing. Their lives have changed forever.
Nothing will ever compare to the strength and love I have witnessed from both of them through this challenging time.
Please see below sands mission and we will leave you with this thought.
'Babies who are taken too soon, were never touched by fear, they never knew sadness, never felt alone and most importantly ALWAYS knew LOVE 💕'
The very nature of SANDS work means they are dealing daily with bereaved parents; their families and friends, all of whom are struggling to come to terms with the death of their baby. They are equally dedicated to working with midwives and doctors to improve the bereavement care they provide to bereaved parents, as well as promoting much needed research to reduce the numbers of babies dying.
The statistics for stillbirth and neonatal death in the UK are shocking and new research has revealed that the UK has one of the highest stillbirth rates in the developed world. SANDS believe that this figure is totally unacceptable and have been working hard to raise awareness of stillbirth and newborn baby death, not only with the media but also amongst the government and policy makers
Sands mission is to:
• support anyone affected by the death of a baby;
• work with health professionals to improve the quality of care and services provided to bereaved parents and their families;
• promote changes in antenatal practice and fund research that could help to reduce the loss of babies' lives.
Sands is determined to meet the growing need for their support services. With your help Sands believe they can also prevent more babies from dying.
