Story
The John's will be cycling about 240 km around the Netherlands to help support schools in Zimbabwe, and the charity Makomborero in their efforts to bring Zimbabwean children out of poverty through education.
Here are some stories from students Mokomborero are helping to get through their A-level examinations:
Meet the A-level Scholarship Students
Mike M (Future Actuary/ Engineer)
Mike is an orphan and has practically self-taught himself, having been unable to pay school fees ($50 per term) for most of his senior schooling. He says that some of the most painful memories of his life were all the times he got “sacked (sent home) from school for unpaid fees” and worse still the look in his friends and teachers eyes every time he walked out of the school gate.
Edwin M (Future Accountant)
Edwin has overcome many challenges in his life, including the loss of both his parents when he was young. He was head boy at both junior and senior school. He is a talented mathematics and accounts student.
Lesleen M (Future Medical Doctor)
Lesleen has achieved the top O-level results at her current school (9As and 1B). She has two younger sisters which she would love to inspire by studying sciences for A-level. Her role model is her Biology teacher who was passionate about the subject and demonstrated true kindness by giving her spectacles to help her excel in her studies.
Here is what your donation can do:
