Why we are doing this and what it entails:

After the year of 2020 where coronavirus minimised the opportunity to fund raise and support these vital charities, we wanted to ensure we were doing are part to support the work done by MacMillan.

Therefore for 2021, we have chosen to support MacMillian as our charity of the year both personally and also through our business Sweet Vintage.

We have pledge to walk 26 miles across the Yorkshire Dales, and look forward to taking part whilst raising monies for this vital cause. In 2017 we walked the Lake District Mighty Hike, It was 26 miles from Keswick to Ambleside in blistering heat! we were walking up and over mountainous terrain in the peak Midday sun. Many had to have assistance to complete or withdraw from the route, but after over 12 hours we somehow crossed the finish line.

Undertaking this walk is not just a case of turning up on the day and off you go, you have to train for months in advance, building up strength and muscles to be able to complete the course on the day. We are fortunate that we have so much beautiful scenery on our doorstep, and fast access  to the moors and hours of amazing walks to help us prepare. So you are likely to see us about on sundays getting in as much training as possible.

In 2017 supporters raised £247.7m in charitable donations for MacMillian, in 2019 this figure had dropped to £229m, Macmillian have yet to release the details for 2020, but many fundraising evengts unable to take place and stopped under safety restrictions the impact will be significant. Let do our bit now, to ensure that if we ever need them MacMillian are still here to help.
