Story
We're 4 school pals who are way past their prime (some way, way, way past their prime) and have foolishly agreed to take part in the Race The Sun challenge in the Lakes this September to fundraise for a fantastic cause in Action Medical Research.
Action Medical Research is the leading UK-wide charity funding medical breakthroughs for 70 years, with a wide range of cutting-edge medical research most likely to deliver real benefit to babies, children and young people. They have helped to beat polio, fight meningitis, prevent stillbirths and develop ultrasound scanning in pregnancy, helping to save thousands of children’s lives and change many more.
Today they continue to tackle the challenges disease and disability present by funding high quality research to save and change children’s lives and are driving forward research to help protect children in the fight against COVID-19. You can read more about their past successes here https://action.org.uk/research/successes
We have entered our team, The Hefty Hikers (we panicked) with the main focus being to raise a minimum fundraising £1800 for Action Medical Research.
The challenge itself is made up of a 40-mile bike ride around the imposing Skiddaw mountain, navigating a 2-mile course on Derwent Water, and finally summiting Skiddaw, one of the Lake District's most iconic peaks with an altitude of 931m, on an 11 mile round trip. If we survive this then we hope to be able to contribute to an incredible cause.

We would be extremely grateful for your support and no sarcastic comments about our chances of success.
With your help we can help to save and change children’s lives.
