Story
Everyone needs whales! Whales are crucial in our fight against climate change as they absorb carbon and help with the production of oxygen. Whales are just as important as trees in fighting climate change, making them the second lung of our planet.
Therefore our team from the University of Bath has started a social media campaign, THE GREEN WHALE
This is to raise money for WDC (Whale and Dolphin Conservation) charity to help protect Wales and Dolphins and subsequently the environment and ecosystem we live in today.
If any of you have seen Seaspiracy you'll know how much of an important cause this is. Any little helps!
THANK YOU

WHY Whales help Climate Change:
📍Whales feed deep down in the ocean but come to the surface to breathe and excrete. Their gigantic poos provide the nutrients that #phytoplankton needs to reproduce and absorb nearly 1/3 of human generated CO2 (a similar amount to that absorbed by all land-based ecosystems - forests and rainforest)
📍Even after whales die, their dead bodies capture 145,000 tonnes of CO2 every year. Those carcasses store the CO2 at the bottom of the ocean for thousands of years and provide food and habitat for many species at the sea floor. This process is called #Whalefall, which also helps to combat climate change.
