Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit the Mental Health Aberdeen Donation Page for the Feel Better Tour! Be sure to check out the SAMH donation page as well via the team page.

For those of you that don't know me, my name is Kyle Bisset and I am an athlete based in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Over the years, I have battled with depression and mental health. I was fortunate enough to find Mental Health Aberdeen (MHA) at a time when I really needed help. Thanks to a combination of counselling services offered through ACIS, medication, and exercise, I have found myself to be coping with my mental health; however, I am very aware that mental health is a journey.

One of the ways I can best improve my own mental health is through sports. In 2020, I came up with the idea of utilising sport as a way to fundraise for mental health. I came up with the "Feel Better Tour" a 185-mile, multi-sport journey across Scotland to help raise funds and awareness for mental health. My plans changed as the world changed and adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic. While I didn't get to make my cross-country trip, with the help of my wife, Vivian, we adapted the tour to the ever-changing times. I ended up running and cycling locally, rowing on an erg in the basement of my gym, and swimming circles round Knockburn Loch to make up the same 185-mile distance that I initially had planned. In addition, we were able to raise £9,178.82 in 2020 and £5,197.25 so far in 2021 for SAMH and MHA (for a grand total of £14,376.07 so far)!

This coming spring of 2022, I hope to *finally* set off on the full version of the Feel Better Tour! Going ahead as initially envisioned, I plan to cycle (55-miles), swim (7-miles), run (18-miles), and kayak (105-miles) from Fort William to Aberdeen, Scotland. All money raised will go directly to the chosen charities, with 50% of the funds going to Mental Health Aberdeen and the other 50% of the funds going to Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH). I hope that, with your help, we can raise £10,000 for mental health by the completion of the Feel Better Tour!

During a time when the world continues to evolve and adapt during such uncertain times, mental health services have never been more crucial. Please consider giving back to these life-saving charities by making your donation to the Feel Better Tour. By raising money and awareness, I hope that other people are able to feel the same support that I have. Even if you cannot donate, please join me in raising awareness by sharing my campaign. And if you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to get the help you need and deserve to feel better. You are never alone. Thank you for your help!

Don't forget to follow along with my journey on social media via Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter @FeelBetterTour.
