Story

“The Cycling Souters” made it to Cardiff!

The Doddie Cup was played for between Scotland and Wales on 12 February 2022. Selkirk RFC entered two cycling relay teams to assist in delivering the match ball from Murrayfield to the Principality Stadium. They covered the 515 miles in 48 hours with feeding stops at various rugby clubs on route including a great lunch at Selkirk RFC!!

The team endured two overnight rides and , other than the opening leg from Edinburgh to Carlisle, were blessed with good weather.

The Cycling Souters and their support crew are:

David Anderson, Kevin Fairbairn, Mike Hall, Gordon Hunter, Allen amieson, Tommy Knox, Andy Macdonald, Lawrence McPherson, Graham Marshall, Iain Paxton, Kenny Pearce, John Smail & Iwan Tukalo

The purpose of the charity ride was to raise as much money as possible for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. Their vision is a world free of MND and a critical element of realising this ambition is being able to fund vital research into the disease.

The Cycling Souters want to help the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation and any assistance you can give by sponsoring the team is hugely appreciated. We'd love to get over £20k.

100% of monies raised will go to the charity.
