Story
We’re joining the fight against cancer and fundraising for Cancer Relief Gibraltar, by challenging ourselves with the Med Steps 5 Challenge on 1 April 2023.
That’s upto 5 times up (and down) the Med Steps! Having only ever managed one circuit before (but on a number of separate occasions) attempting more than one circuit will be very challenging.
We, Victor (11), Oscar (will be 13), Kamran and I (old), will be pushing ourselves to see how many circuits we can achieve.
First training session was on Sunday (5 March 2023) and one circuit was enough 🥵
For those who are not familiar with The Mediterranean ‘Med’ Steps, it is a beautiful hike and nature trail, but one which is steep and strenuous. The path runs mainly along the eastern side of the Rock of Gibraltar, starting at Jews Gate, in dense vegetation and gradually opening out, giving a spectacular view of North Africa across the Strait, and ending at about 420m above sea level. There are plenty of steep steps, caves and old WWII buildings en route, maybe an odd Barbary Macaque too!
Cancer Relief Gibraltar has been providing support to people living with cancer in the community for 40 years (this year). They understand that a diagnosis of cancer can be a life-changing event and are there to help. All their services are free and are aimed at helping those diagnosed and their families live life to the full. The Centre’s services can be used by anyone affected by cancer, whether it is for a one-off chat or more continued support. They offer a warm, welcoming environment where support can always be found.
Any donations to support this valuable cause gratefully received.
