Story
We're bloody bonkers... but it's for such an amazing charity that's so close to our hearts that it'll be worth it, especially with the kindness of you all!! Together, we are uniting against dementia!!
So, what are we doing??
We’ve teamed up to do a relay triathlon, each taking on a separate leg... easy you say?! This is 'The World's Toughest Triathlon' (as voted for by 220 Triathlon 2016) so for the normally untrained ‘Extreme’ triathletes that we are it’s sure going to face each one of us as a challenge.
Up first will be Eddie, taking on a 2.4-mile lake swim, the temperature of the lake is estimated to be around 12degrees.,then James will be showing us all how it’s done with a 115.96-mile bike ride through some challenging North Welsh hills before Sophie brings up the rear with a 25.1 mile run that finishes with an accent and decent of Snowdon. Not
sounding quite so easy anymore……
Why are we doing it?
Alzheimer's disease.
Our super sweet and honestly blunt Grandma was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s a few years ago. It’s been tough for everyone to see the deterioration and how this horrible disease takes all independence away from those affected.
Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia, with symptoms including memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem-solving or language.
There are currently 850,000 people in the UK with dementia, with numbers only set to rise to 2 million by 2051.
225,000 will develop dementia this year, that’s one every three minutes
and 1 in 6 people over the age of 80 have dementia. With no cure, they’re rather terrifying facts.
How can your donation help?
Alongside from helping us digging deep through the pain….
£5 could pay for one person to attend a half hour support session
at a Dementia Cafe
£50 could fund a Dementia Helpline adviser for an hour, as they
provide a listening ear for people in need of advice and support.
£120 could pay to run an online community for people affected by
dementia, which offers a safe place to share experiences and also receive advice and support
We would be ever so grateful for every £ you could spare to help
not only us and our family, but every other family who is affected by dementia.
Much love
The 3 of us. xxx
