Story

THE SCARBOROUGH THREE PEAKS - SUNDAY 12TH JUNE 🏔 🥾

Saint Catherine’s in Scarborough provide palliative care and support at home, in the hospice for patients and to their family, friends and loved ones. Saint Catherine’s team are made up of many AMAZING professionals.. including nurses, doctors, therapists, bereavement counsellors, social workers, spiritual and psychological support ❤️

First hand our family have experienced how incredible Saint Catherine’s truly are. When Em needed more support which could no longer be completely fulfilled at home, the hospice made us feel SO at home.. even though this was away from our normal environment ❤️

Nothing was ever to much to ask for and they always always always put Em at the centre of everything, making sure she was always as happy as possible. From being able to decorate Em’s room exactly how she wanted (lots of flowers and everything pretty! 🌻 💐) & bringing all our own touches from home to make this our safe place, to allowing us to stay 24/7 with her to make so so so many incredible memories. The hospice was a place we could all be together and just be ourselves, but in an environment that could provide constant around the clock care for Em when she needed it the very most. Here we could all just be ourselves.. laugh, smile & ramble the day away.. or even just binge watch our favourite tv shows.. 💕 This really made Em feel so much more comfortable and something that we will always forever be so grateful for. We promised that we would never leave Em’s side and Saint Catherine’s helped us keep that promise.

All the staff forever went the extra mile and would always greet us with a smile and would always make a consistent effort in making sure we had everything we needed. The list is endless with all the amazing things they helped us achieve, including making Em’s birthday so special with a trolley of Prosecco 🥂, helping us get dominos deliveries 🍕 helping arrange a surprise private screening of the new Lion King in our own cinema room with those closest to Em, bringing in therapy dogs to cheer us up on days we needed it the most 🐶 🎥 🍿 ❤️

This place is truly like no other & somewhere where we would have been completely lost without. The difference they made to Em will be something we will cherish forever and ever.

DONATIONS

On Sunday 12th June, we are participating in “The Scarborough Three Peaks” to raise much needed funds for the amazing Saint Catherine’s Hospice in Scarborough 💛

🥾 The Scarborough Three Peaks is a brand new challenge set up this year, starting at the Hospice - through to Scarborough Castle, Oliver’s Mount, Jacob’s Mount & then back to the hospice - totalling approximately 12 miles 🥾

Saint Catherine’s need to raise 5 million a year to fund patient care. Commissioners contribute approximately 2m per year but the remaining 3 million comes from solely the generosity of the public ❤️

Every 24 hours, the nurses, doctors, counsellors, social workers and therapists provide impeccable care for those in the inpatient unit & also at home who are living with a terminal diagnosis - and to their loved ones. Money raised enables them to continue the amazing services the hospice provides, helping patients and their families through the most difficult and heartbreaking times to find joy… something we will forever be grateful for 💛

"Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light" ⚡️✨
