I hope that when my final days approach I will be surrounded by love from my family and friends.
But many patients nearing the end of their life can experience loneliness, anxiety and depression. Many do not have loved ones to support them, and even close families can find it difficult to visit as much as they would like.
So I am raising funds to support palliative care staff at Watford General who are developing the Rose project to ensure that every patient has all the support they need at this most precious time.
At the heart of the project will be a team of volunteers, specially trained to provide patients with companionship, a listening ear and a comforting hand to hold when they need it most. Families need help too and the comfort of knowing that someone can sit with their loved one if they can't be there.
Raise, the hospital's charity, is looking for £50,000 to run the Rose project for two years. Will you join me in supporting this amazing cause too?
