Story
Elvie has launched #TheBigSqueeze to raise money for the UK’s number one pregnancy support charity, Tommy’s.
With many parents and parents-to-be feeling stretched, isolated and cut off from the physical support friends and family usually provide, stress levels are soaring. Research shows that more than half of mums in the UK say the lockdown is having a negative impact on their mental health.
They're turning to exercise to help cope, so Elvie has launched #TheBigSqueeze - a pelvic-floor strengthening workout you can find on Elvie's Instagram page. Do the workout, share your 'squelfie' - your face mid-squeeze, as demoed by Tova Leigh above - donate to Tommy's (here!) and nominate five pals to do the same.
It currently costs £9 for Tommy’s to support one pregnant woman with her mental health. Tommy’s midwives offer free, virtual advice, information, and reassurance for mums and pregnant women.
Please donate what you can and help us keep these vital services running.
Elvie will match donations made in the first 48hours, up to £5,000! If we can hit £10,000 in total, we can keep Tommy’s Midwives going for the next three months and help ensure women receive the mental health support they need.
Mum-to-be Rachel from London said: "The support offered by Tommy's Midwives has been an invaluable lifeline to me over the past couple of months. I've been so anxious about this pregnancy, particularly in the current climate. I don't know what I'd have done without their clear information and gentle words of reassurance."
