Story
Many thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
For most people 10k is nothing, literally a walk in the park! But for these two Wallys' who do not DO running and who have barely done anything that could be described as meaningful exercise in the last year this, was a challenge indeed.
Yesterday we ( very slowly!!) completed a distance of 7.57miles ( or 12.1827341 km) dressed as Wheres Wally to raise money and awareness for National Literacy Trust - 'an independent charity working with schools and communities to give disadvantaged children the literacy skills to succeed in life.'
Early literacy skills are hugely important and having worked in Libraries, Family Support and the Early Years sectors I have been able to see the very real, very positive difference support with early literacy can have for children's future outcomes.
We had many shout outs along the way with cars beeping at us and children waving and spotting Wally! I hope that our effort- and effort it was for us- drew attention to cause we are so passionate about.
If you would like to make a donation to the National Literacy Trust to help support their continued work, any amount you can spare would be very gratefully received.
More information about the charity and the work they do can be found here- https://literacytrust.org.uk/
