Dear Reader, 

Last year I traveled with The Zahra Trust to Iraq and the trip left a lasting impact on me. I was blessed to have had the opportunity to interact and learn from so many of the orphans and vulnerable children supported by the Trust, a truly humbling experience and something that will stay with me for my entire life.

I spend a lot of my time trying to inspire and empower young people, showing them their true potential and opportunities to help them excel and grow. But there are countless young people around the world who may never even have the chance to see their potential because they lack even basic necessities that we so easily take for granted.

The Zahra Trust is an organisation that (amongst many other things,) supports orphans, widows and vulnerable children in countries that have seen far too much war, conflict and destruction. I'm raising money to support these individuals and families and am especially keen to help support their pursuit of education, which is one of the main vehicles out of the cycle of poverty.  

On a more personal note, I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to complete a 1.5km swim, an 80km cycle and a 10km run. I'm definitely going to need to train....hard and even if it means crawling to the finish line, there is no way I'm not completing this challenge.
